Redesigning The Bible With Readability In Mind or Deception?

Thy word is true from the beginning: And every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Psalm 119:160 kjv

Adam Lewis Greene, a Santa Cruz typographer, has set out with the goal in mind to make the bible more readable to today’s ever-developing society.

Greene claims that the layout of the old and new testaments of the bible discourages readers from reading the book from front to back.

He later adds “ No wonder that while 73% of Americans say they are Christian, only 1 in 5 Americans will cop to actually reading the Bible on a regular basis.

It’s name will be the Bibliotheca, and the idea is to print the bible as just another long book; four attractive hardcover volumes, 2 for the old testament and 2 for the New.

Greene, also goes on to state that the verse and chapter numbers used as reference points are actually new; finding their origin in the Medieval times.

Finally he states, and when I say he I mean Adam Lewis Greene, and not Jehovah, that the bible was meant to be experienced not as a spiritual encyclopedia, but literature.

Now here is my take and personal opinion on the new project the Bibliotheca. While good intension and sincerity may have been at the center of reasoning behind this project, there have been many people throughout the history of mankind that have been sincerely mistaking.

The lack of interest in reading of the bible consistently among the American christians has nothing to do with the lack of readability of the old and new testaments, but more so a lack of understanding and a desire not to be convicted of sins that they hold dear.

How does the bible tell us that we are to understand it?

Answer: Isaiah 28:10 kjv – For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

The bible tells us we must compare scripture with scripture to understand it and we will only find God when we search for Him diligently with all our hearts(Jer 29:13). So simplifying or modifying the bible will not bring the reader any closer to the Lord. The reader needs to come to God with an open heart and learn at the feet of Jesus.

Who’s job is it to convict us of sin?

Answer: John 16:8 kjv- And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

The answer is the Holy spirit convicts us of sin (see also John 16:13) if we deny the rebuke we feel when we read the more difficult scripture of the bible we deny the Holy spirit working in our lives. Which if is done too consistently is the only sin God cannot forgive ( MT 12:31)

According to the top bible scholars of the world- if honestly admitted- after the king james version of the bible were completed there was no further need for any other translation of the bible.

It’s the closest and most accurate resource we have to the original text. Also in many of the latter forms of the bible it’s been found that some versions actually contain verses that gear different meaning than that of the hebrew & greek translations intended and even gave way to some missing versions and I’m willing to bet my lucky stars friends, that this new project, the bibliotheca, won’t be the exception.

Remember God’s solemn warning concerning His holy word

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Proverbs 30:5-6 kjv

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Revelation 22:18-19 kjv

Taking away or adding to for a more readable content does make us liable to God for profaning that which is Holy and making no distinction between what’s Holy and what’s profane.

I dare say, that we should stay far away from these “simplified bibles” and cling to the truth of God friends. I will leave you with these scriptures.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 kjv

What the bible really say about the rapture

What does the bible really say about the rapture? HBO has a new hit series. Maybe you’ve heard about it. It’s called “The Leftovers.” The show is focused on taking a look at what the end time will be like after the church is raptured up and the struggles those left behind face. The hit series is based on Tom Perrotta’s novel and is a concept accepted by many futurist today. However is this view completely in line with the biblical description of the second coming? Let’s find out.
                                      left overs

Is Jesus going to return for His church members that are already ready before the end of the world?

Answer: John 6:40 kjv – and I will raise him up at the last day.” After Christ makes His claim as the ultimate supplier of eternal need and peace and joy He tells us that all who believe on HIm as saviour He will raise up from the grave on the last day not 7 years before the last day.

Will all the righteous of God be gathered at the same time on the last day?

Answer: 1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17 kjv- and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds,” The harvest is right for the picking, and the great Law-Giver will return for His precious elect and the dead in Christ will arise to meet their Lord in the air accompanied by the righteous living, what a glorious and triumphant day shall it be.

Will Jesus’ return be a secret?

Answer: Revelation 6:16,17 kjv – the wicked shall say ” to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come;

This definitely doesn’t sound like a secret to me friends. At this time the saved dead in Christ will be given eternal life and new incorruptible bodies while the wicked living will seek to hide themselves from the brightness of the coming for the Lord just as Adam did after he sinned in the garden of eden.

Does the antichrist make his appearance after the church has been caught up?

Answer: 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 kjv- Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed,

Paul makes it clear that the day of the Lord- the second advent- will not come until the man of sin or the antichrist is revealed.

When will the antichrist come? Could he be here now?

Answer: 2 Thessalonians 2:7 kjv- For the mystery of iniquity doth already work:

The bible tells us that even in the days of Paul the spirit of iniquity or the antichrist spirit was already working and has been in effect.

Will some of those raised from the dead at Christ’s coming be victims of the antichrist?

Answer: Rev 20:4 kjv- and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands;

Well it’s just plain difficult to add commentary to this verse. It’s pretty self-evident. This verse mentions a group of people that had resisted worship of the beast and receiving his mark, and as a result they were martyred for their faith in Jesus.

Is there a reference to 7 years of tribulation just before the end of the world in the bible?

Answer: No, there isn’t the slightest bit of biblical evidence to backup this claim. This belief evolved from a misunderstanding of Daniel chapter 9. Where dispensationalist take the last week of the 70 week prophesy and place it somewhere in the distant future. However this way of examining prophesy is completely contradictory to every other example in the bible of how prophesy works and in fact, doesn’t fit in with the prophesy at all.

What was Dan 9:24-27 referring to if not the time of the antichrist and the last tribulation?

Answer: Using the year for a day rule for prophesy (see Numbers 14:34) we understand that 70 weeks (Dan 9:24) which there is 30 days in a jewish month, equates to 490 prophetic days or 490 literal years.

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: Daniel 9:25 kjv. This broken down in simpler terms says that of the 70 weeks in 69 of weeks the Messiah will be revealed.

Notice in Daniel 9:25 it says from the going forward of the command to rebuild Jerusalem would be the beginning of the prophesy. The decree to rebuild Jerusalem from the Persian king Artaxerxes went out in B.C. 457 and Jesus was baptized and anointed with the Holy spirit in A.D. 27 which fits the prophesy of 69 prophetic weeks or 483 literal years perfectly. You do the math!

Now the complete prophesy was for 70 weeks so there is still 7 prophetic days remaining or 7 literal years. This is where the idea of the antichrist making a peace treaty with the world for 7 years originates, but is that biblical, to take a part of a prophesy that was meant to be all together and apply it somewhere down the stream of time?

Absolutely not friends, let’s see what the bible says will happen in this last week of the 70 weeks prophesy.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: Daniel 9:27 kjv
We have to use the context around if you do then you will see that without a doubt this verse is referring to Jesus. It goes on to say and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease. Jesus  was crucified in A.D. 31 and the veil in the temple ripped. Since Jesus atoning blood was sufficient for all of us there was no longer a need for sacrifices of animals.

Now you may say that still leaves 3 and a half years left in the week. I think this verse will clear up the answer to that question for you.

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Hebrews 2:3 kjv

The remainder of the week was finished by the disciples that heard the words of Jesus personally.

Although it is a very comforting thought that there is an additional chance available even after Jesus returns; friends, it’s simply not biblical. This is our second chance. Romans 6:23 tells us the wages of sin is death.  By our own works we were doomed to death, but by Jesus’s atoning sacrifice we are now able to pass into life. This is our second and last chance to come to Him. Be deceived not, Satan would love nothing more that to lower your guard and have you unprepared for the return of our blessed Messiah.

Supreme Court rules ObamaCare provision can’t force some employers to cover contraception.

Supreme Court has ruled that ObamaCare provisions can’t force some employers to cover contraception, that is a mandate for pregnancy prevention.

This is a great day for religious liberty, right? We saw protestant and Catholic alike come together for the common cause of preventing mandatory abortion. Maybe we don’t differ so much after all.

Why are Christian against the Idea of Contraception Mandates?

While we don’t feel that the government should make laws that outlaw an individual’s right to abort a child; it is a direct violation of the seventh commandment that says

Thou shalt not kill

If this mandate would stand it would mean the violation of religious liberty in which this country was founded on, as well as a violation of conscience.

For a business owner that has religious convictions, a decree to swallow those convictions violates the company’s freedom to worship according to the dictates of one’s own conscience, but forces corporate worship void of love and personal decision.

Unspoken Opportunity in Contraception Ruling

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. – Revelation 17:13

Catholics and protestants came together to push out the forced abortion act from the ObamaCare administration. On the surface this is a beautiful act of unity but the bible tells us that this is the beginning of something far more sinister.

“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with Spiritualism (the charismatic movement?) … then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Christian Service pp. 160, 161).

This marks the first time in history that Supreme court has recognized for-profit organizations religious rights under federal law or the constitution.

This also signifies of the greatest testimonies that christians of all denominations should lay aside their differences and just love each other and function as one body.

Moral of this story
“Today is a great day for religious liberty,” says , counsel at The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty which represented Hobby Lobby in her interview with Fox news.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s awesome to see christians unite and make a difference in our nation and in the world. After all the bible does tell us if possible live peaceably among all men.( Rom 12:18)

I wished I could say that it would always be as sweet as victory as we are witnessing now.

Prophesy shows the liberties that America has always has stood on and the morals this great nation was founded on will begin to erode and many christians will begin to back laws that limit the freedom of their brethren.

Unity can be a great thing but the bible commands us to form unity around sound doctrine.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
– John 17:17

There is a quote I’d like to leave you with today from one of the most translated and astonishing authors in the last 200 years, Ellen White, in her classic book, Great Controversy.

ellen“Romanism is now regarded by Protestants with far greater favor than in former years. In those countries where Catholicism is not in the ascendancy, and the papists are taking a conciliatory course in order to gain influence, there is an increasing indifference concerning the doctrines that separate the reformed churches from the papal hierarchy; the opinion is gaining ground that, after all, we do not differ so widely upon vital points as has been supposed, and that a little concession on our part will bring us into a better understanding with Rome. The time was when Protestants placed a high value upon the liberty of conscience which had been so dearly purchased. They taught their children to abhor popery and held that to seek harmony with Rome would be disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed!” (p. 563).

Remember these words of Jesus: Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Revelation 3:11 kjv

Lesson on humility and the power of God

Oppression of The Multitude

In the days of Gideon, Israel was oppressed by many nations for their disobedience to God and constant backsliding, but God so loved Israel that when they humbled themselves He’d raise a judge to deliver them. In this particular lesson, the nation was Midian’s vast and powerful army. Judges 7:12 says they were with as many camels as the sand by the sea(meaning a lot of camel and men).

Many are Called; Few are Chosen
Interestingly enough, Gideon’s army began with 32,000 men. The Lord told Gideon this is far to many they’ll begin to think they got the victory with their own hand( cf Judges 7:2) Church history shows us that a lot of times when there is a great increase in the church and powerful works are being done as a result of the resources available, the people of God begin to become a little self-righteous and within themselves begin to think their good works will earn them a place of favor with God. God wanted it to be understood without a shadow of a doubt, it was indeed Him who delivered them from their oppressors, so He commanded Gideon to send 22,000 of his soldiers home which left him with 10,000 soldiers still.

Gathering the Wheats & Tares
The Lord again said to Gideon, nope, you got too many here, I need the most obedient & humble of servants to carry out My will and deliver my people from the hands of anguish(paraphrasing) So the Lord tested the soldiers by the water and made a divide between the soldiers that lapped water like a dog( humble christians) and the ones who would only fall to their knees to drink( prideful christians). Of those, 300 soldiers, lapped water like a dog; the remaining 9,700 soldiers drank from their knees to drink (cf. Judges 7:4-5)

The Awesome Saving Grace of God
The 9,700 prideful soldiers were sent home and God used 300 men of lowly hearts and humble obedience to conquer the uncountable multitude of the wicked by the hand of their own swords. There are a few morals to this story. The most important is serve the Lord with reverence and trembling, with all humbleness and you’d be amazed at the wonderful and great things He can do
through you for His kingdom.

Satan’s Greatest Deception: Let Him That Has An Ear Understand

The bible reveals to us that none are perfect excluding the Lord Himself. The bible also tells us in Psalm 19:7, that God’s law is also perfect.

In this article we’re going to take a look at the law of God and how it reflects the very character of God almighty.

There was a lot of confusion regarding the first advent of Jesus, and the purpose of His human manifestation.

Israel were given prophet after prophet, shadows & types, as well as the precepts of God to help them identify the messiah at His for coming.

However, instead of being vigilant and diligent in preparation for the Son of God, Israel became obsessed with the ceremonies and rituals themselves; thus at the coming of Jesus as the meek Lamb to be atonement for the sin of the world, He was  unrecognized by the very people who were supposed to take His gospel to the world.

Avoiding the same mistake:

We know after the time was fulfilled that all who accepted Chris as Lord and deliverer, Jew & Gentile alike were considered spiritual Israel.

My concern is, has spiritual Israel become so accustom to tradition and ceremonies that we’ve forgotten to look for the return of the Redeemer?

There is no mistaking it that there were some significant changes that were accomplished at the cross of calvary, but what did the changes entail exactly?

Colossians 2:14 tells us exactly what was nailed to the cross, read it carefully.

Notice it says the commandment found in the handwriting of  Ordinances which were a whiteness against you was nailed to the cross.

The wording is extremely important because the commandments in ordinances differed from the 10 commandments given by God and written by His own finger.

If you go to Deuteronomy 31:26 you’ll see that Moses wrote a book of the law of ordinances aside from the 10 commandments and placed it beside the ark of the covenant, in inside the ark where only the Holy 10 commandments spoken by God were permitted.

The book was to be a witness against Israel and contained shadows and ceremonial laws to help Israel identify Jesus.

This is what was nailed to the cross.

Jesus plainly declared He did not come to Abolish the Law but fulfill it (see Matthew 5:17).

Protest against the 10 commandments:

Some have said Jesus did fulfill the Law so we no longer have to….

I, awkwardly enough, agree.
Jesus’s righteous fulfillment of the law in His earthly life means we no longer have to fulfill the law to be saved.

Did you catch that? Since Jesus did fulfill the law we no longer need to….. AS A MEANS OF SALVATION.

The bible provides us with a clear definition of Sin.

Sin is the transgression of the law (see 1 John 3:4).

Does sin through grace lead to salvation?

So now that we understand breaking God’s law is the very definition of sin, let’s see what the apostle Paul had to say about lawlessness.

What shall we say then? Are we to continue sinning that grace may abound? God forbid (Romans 6: 12).

The idea that grace could be used as a license to sin was absurd to Paul.

Christ kept the law (see John 15:10) and what is a christian but a follower of Christ?

Remember on the last day the ones Christ will ask to depart from Him will be a result of their lawlessness (see Matthew 7:23).
The bible is consistent in pointing out law-breaking as a bad thing.

A question I’d like to ask is, why would you change something perfect? If something is perfect no alterations could improve the thing without flaw.

Can you imagine an interviewer after the big game asking a player

“You played the perfect game tonight,  no game in history past or present  will be as good as this one, no player will ever play a better game than this one tonight, a quad-tripple-double, how do you plan to doing better for the next game?”

Do you see how much of a contradiction that would be? Remember James 1:25 tells us that God’s law is perfect. What alterations can possibly be added to it?

Some additional food for thought, if the law could be altered would their be a reason for Jesus to be a sin sacrifice?

Couldn’t then God just lower the expectations to fulfill it?

Friends, remember these words I am the Lord I change not Malachi 3:6.

This is why changing the law was totally out of the question and Jesus had to bare sin for us.

Now that undeniable biblical evidence has been provided that the law is still binding let’s move to our final section of the article.

Did you think you were already keeping the commandments?

You may be one who says I have no problem with the commandments and I think we should keep them.

I fact a lot of churches would agree, but did you know there is one commandment that almost all christians have forgotten.

I’ll give you a clue it’s the only commandment that begins with remember.

Did you guess it? If you said the Sabbath commandment… You win!!! Your prize is the seal of God!

You may be saying is it really that important that I keep the law, but remember breaking any part of the law is sin (see James 2:10) and sin leads to death( see Romans 6:23).

This is why Jesus had to suffer humiliation and torture.

He was wounded for our transgression Isaiah 53:5.

Would you suggest it’s now okay to steal, kill, have affairs, covet, etc…?

Of course not, that sounds ludicrous. To God casting aside His Holy day(Saturday) for a man-made sanctified sabbath(Sunday) sounds just as insane.

Revelation 14:12 declares that the people God is returning for are the ones who keep HIs commandments.

How many? Just 9? No my friend, all 10.

As servants we have no authority to tamper with the Holy law of the Master.

I hope this article has encouraged you to stand firm on the Holy laws of God.

I recommend finding a church that observes all the precepts of God and holds on to the truth as time winds down on this planet.

I would love to hear your thoughts below.
God bless.

How to get over heartbreak from a close friend

How to get over heartbreak when it’s from your closest friends? The ones you thought had your best interest in heart.

How could they be so thoughtless and inconsiderate of your feelings. Today we’re going to look at some guidance right from the bible to better help us understand how to deal with these sticky and usually painful situations.

We will also take a look at some powerful bible verses on forgiveness. Our goal today is to help you have a spirit-filled outlook on one of life’s most devastating situations.

How to get over heartbreak

A brief story for you.

Nettie Gibson of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, was expecting a normal day when she left her house around 8:00 A.M.

She didn’t think she would be blindsided by a 63 year old elderly lady who had one too many drinks. If you’re wondering how many drinks are too many the answer is 1.

Caught in the most awkward position of one leg being pinned between the dash and front seat, Nettie drifting in and out of consciousness as the firefighters made a daring attempt to rescue her from her almost certain doom.

Nettie was certain that this was the end for her. She even asked the nurse to give her son a good-bye letter.

After 10 hours of emergency surgery, nearly losing her right foot, and having her right arm broken; it was determined Nettie would live.

It would have taking most of us a lot of bible verses on forgiveness to even consider forgiving someone who has hurt us in our prayer life, but let’s see how Nettie handled it.

Let’s see how to get over heartbreak from Nettie’s perspective. She tells us that it even hurt to breathe for a few weeks, and it was over that span of time that she found out that the driver responsible for her world being turned upside down was under the influence.

It was this along with losing her job that drove Nettie into a state of depression.  She began to see a therapist

If anyone Nettie should be able to write a novel on how to get over heartbreak.

The first step recommended by the therapist was to admit she was angry. The next step was learning to let it go and forgive.

The bible is filled with bible verses on forgiveness. Maybe the therapist was a christian. Although that wasn’t mentioned it truly is a christian perspective to realize what’s the source of your heartbreak and forgiving the person responsible even if that person is yourself.

On the court date seeing how frightened the 63 year old highway bandit looked filled her heart with conviction and she approached the public defender of the elderly lady and asked him to tell his client that she was forgiven.

Nettie describes the filling of forgiveness as if a huge sense of relief. This gave her the peace of mind to begin speaking publicly to other victims of the same situation. She has truly exemplified how to get over heartbreak.

Just like Nettie many times we find ourselves in a dilemma. Someone has hurt us and bad. This person that hurt us isn’t a stranger or an associate, no, instead it’s someone very near and dear to our hearts; else it wouldn’t hurt so bad.

What should we do? Do we completely shut them out of our lives or do we try to hurt them back? Maybe if we can give them a double-dose of the pain we received they’ll get what they deserve and I’ll feel better. Let’s see what exactly the bible says about this touchy topic.

Bible verses on forgiveness

Bible Verses on Forgiveness

What a powerful opening verse to look at how to get over heartbreak.

It was Martin Luther King, Jr. that said “ Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that”.

In like manner, walking in the counsel of the wicked and doing as they do will not help us to recover from the pain we feel from being wronged from our loved ones.

Often we try to hold it in or try to avoid dealing with the matter or person that is causing the agony in our lives. However this never truly fixes the problem(s).

Instead it prolongs the issue and normally it ends up resurfacing at a later, most inconvenient time.

“So what do we do?” you may ask.

How to get over heartbreak

The first step is to let them know that they’ve done you a disservice and how it made you feel.

This won’t always change the person’s way of thinking, but it will take a load of stress off your shoulders.

Surprisingly enough, most people aren’t even aware that’ve hurt you. At least to the degree that the pain has affected you.

You would be amazed how many people hurt other people unaware or either in a response to cover their own hurt.

What is our best defense in learning how to get over heart break?

Bible Verses on Forgiveness

Our best defense for war against hurt and embarrassment is to arm ourselves with the two-edged sword of truth.

I’ve ran across christians that have said “I don’t have time to run to the bible for every little thing.” I always think to myself my word, they must be fighting an uphill battle spiritually.

I run to the bible about every little thing. That along with prayer makes a world of difference.

I especially run to the word for bible verses on forgiveness as it’s one of the hardest feats for the human heart.

If you are a christian then forgiveness has to be a priority in the process of how to get over heartbreak.

We must remember how we hurt Jesus, and the sins He bore on the cross were not His own.
How to get over heartbreak

With life being drained from His body and his accusers taking delight in it Jesus didn’t say “Curse you, I should have never given up my life for you if you’re going to be that way.”

Instead He forgives them and prays that His father will also forgive them.

This type of behavior is mind-blowing to the world because it’s not of the world, but of God.

The Lord looks on us to become wiser than the world and its way.

A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.  Proverbs 19:11

For issues too small sometimes the best course of action is to simply overlook someone else’s wrong doing.

I know it can seem hard but try to think of all the small sins you’ve committed and God says “and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.(Hebrews 8:12)”

I know the concept can seem difficult but just give it a try.

The word of God calls for us to have self-control and to be long-suffering with tender hearts.

We should bare with each other when we are in error and gently restore one another when we lose our way(2 Timothy 2:24-26).

I could go one all day about this topic but it’s more important that you understand the concept.

I earnestly pray that these bible verses on forgiveness have motivated you to have a Godly love for people even when they’re not so loving.

I hope it is perfect edification for the spirit that dwells within you, and that it fluently shows you how to get over heartbreak.

Spiritual Gifts Test- What are tongues?

Hello friends,

How can you put spiritual gifts to the test. Is tongues the only sign of baptism in the Holy spirit?

We’re going to take an in-depth look at the gifts of the Holy Spirit today.

I want to start by taking a look at a story that took place in the 20th century.

It’s about a Dutch painter and portraitist . His name is Han van Meegeren

Han van Meegeren

What makes Han unique from so many other portraitist was his unique approach to obtaining fame and wealth.

As a young lad, Han, was extremely interested to say the least in the paintings from the Dutch golden age.  This lit a fire in young Han; which led to the young portraitist to make it his life long passion.

You can probably imagine as  Han grew so did his talents and ambition.

However his dreams took a turn for the worst when art critics found his work only slightly better than mediocre .

Han felt as though the critics had destroyed his career. This made Meegeren even more determined and all the more desperate.

This ultimately lead to a string of forgeries for the ages. He forged paintings from a number of famed artists. His most famous was the forgery of the Supper at Emmaus in 1937.

Supper at Emmaus

A forgery of Vermeer ended up in the possession of Reichsmarschall Hermann Goring(Nazis)  during World War II.  Van Meegeren was arrested for the sale of national treasure on May 29, 1945.

This was considered treason of the highest caliber and the penalty was death. Van Meegeren confessed his forgeries . Now in a most bizarre change of events Han has to paint for His freedom.

He was convicted and sentenced to only one year in prison, which he never served because He died of a heart attack in December of 1947.

I think we can all learn a lot from Van Meegeren’s story. Han had even those in the highest positions convinced he was the painter of all those wonderful works of art.

Though his cunning and deceit lead him to being wealthy for a while, he was eventually exposed and sentenced because of it.

In these last days the bible warns us that there will be similar deceit in the church and many will be fooled but Satan and his  minions will be exposed and sentenced to the lake of fire in the last day.

Satan's end

Let’s take a look a falsehood that has even many believers scratching their heads.

Questions I hear nowadays is ” Why are so many tele-evangelist and pastors in general speaking in tongues today?” “If I can’t do it does that mean I haven’t received the baptism of the Holy Spirit?”

Today, it’s very common to visit a Pentecostal or Charismatic church and many members, pastor included, are speaking in and uncertain utterance and proclaiming it as a gift from God.

The very definition of tongue is Language. For instance have you every heard someone say “He’s not from around here.” “He doesn’t speak our native tongue.”

Well friends that’s all it is. Also God doesn’t give gifts for fruitless reasons. When God gives gifts it’s always for edification of the church.

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus commanded the disciples to go into all the world teaching and baptizing. This is a reason God would give the gift of tongues; because everyone in the world didn’t speak the same language.

Matt 28

You can bear witness to this yourself in the book of Acts.  The book of acts records the only examples of tongues in the bible and they’re not uttering gibberish  that no one there could discern.

I purposely left the verses of acts out in the hope that you will open and read them for yourselves.

Do you know that the bible mentions tongues as the least spiritual gift, yet today many churches have made it as if it was the greatest gift of the spirit.

1 Corinthians 14: 3-9 makes it strikingly clear that tongues were given to help everyone in the room regardless of their nationality and home language to understand the sermon. Otherwise you will be speaking into the air.

So if you’re not speaking gibberish, no that doesn’t mean you haven’t received the Holy spirit.

Galatians 5 tells us the fruits of the spirit are: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control.

Therefore if you’ve given your life a living sacrifice to Jesus Christ and been experiencing the above fruits; it’s very likely that you have indeed the Holy Spirit in your life.

I truly hope this gives you some very valuable food for thought and that you will turn to the bible for the ultimate and final authority.
